Government unveils elderly care plans – Yahoo! News UK.

What’s the point of saving up for 40 years to give my final lump sum to the goverment, whereas if I don’t have ANY savings, the goverment will pay for all the care! I am far too right-wing for the British benefits system.

I’ve been debating recently to halt my pension payments for a few years or not. I think I’d rather not pay the £93 a month out of principle, rather than really needing the extra cash. I trust holding onto my money more than giving it to the NHS and expecting it back in 2050. Who knows if the NHS will still be standing? What will the world be like? I’ll just be another pensioner that society doesn’t care about. I almost don’t believe in a pension, then I listen to sense and I give in. I suppose I just don’t want to commit to a NHS pension because I might leave for private practice or even move to another country (Australia/America) in five years, so it’d annoy me to have a small amount of money stuck in the UK for 40+ years.

If I remain healthy, I’ll be working for 52 weeks a year for the next 40 years of my life. Scary thought when I clock-watch through the daily grind! Designing cakes might be quite enjoyable, but healthcare is less exciting/creative/inspiring. As my mum says, work is called work because it’s not play.

My profession has mostly older colleagues and I’ve been rather jealous of the ones at retirement age. My boss retired earlier this year at 60 years old and just comes to work two days a week as well as collecting her pension (plus holidays and gardening). She doesn’t seem “old” at all, which is a very naive misconception I used to have of the older generation. Nowadays, every mature adult I know is over 50 and hey, they seem pretty normal! Unfortunately when I retire, it’ll be at 68 years of age. I suspect that those last 8 years will make a difference. Mhmm, early retirement… better start boosting my pension pot then.

I’ve just realised that I’ve been pronoucing the word “particulary” as “paticularily”, hence finding it more difficult than everyone else. A few years ago, I found out that the word “couple” means two. I was skeptical at the time.

Very telling figures! I hope they’re accurate. Big divide between North and South prices, and useful to see calculations of how much the rent has gone down by.

My little flat in Kingston is up for lease soon and I know it’ll be a nightmare getting everything sorted when I’m not living in the same city anymore. But I’ll be damned if I deal with estate agents again.

Video: New footage emerges of alleged G20 police misconduct | UK news | guardian.co.uk.

Without getting too political or reactionary, the policeman does appear to have made a mistake. Especially infront of the media around them! He held back on his strength but it was not justifiable to respond with those actions against the woman.

Baby Java! | Dlisted.

Sawyer from Lost had a baby named Java Kumala with his wife Yessica. Names aside, I’m only shallow enough to care about this red carpet photo. How can anyone look so effortless poster perfect? The square jaw, shiny hair, subtle smile, head tilt. Even his facial hair does not get minus points. On the other hand, the camera wasn’t so kind to his (lucky) wife…

Many thanks to the person who edited all the original cutscenes and gameplay into an hour long cinematic version!

Full Throttle holds a special place in my heart because it was the first game that I randomly picked up at PC World when my dad bought a Compaq PC. This was a decade ago when PC games came in those big cardboard boxes. Lucky for me that it was such a great game :) I really should get round to playing Psychonauts…

BBC NEWS | England | Suffolk | Man held over rape of two women.

Jesus Christ, sleepy Suffolk?! A colleague and some of my hospital’s patients live in Brandon. At least he was caught immediately and hopefully they’ll be harsh with sentencing for a change. I don’t know if I’m just more cautious or lazy since owning a car (living with parents-scared-of-the-dark doesn’t help), but I don’t walk anywhere at night anymore.

“In March 8 of last year, for example, three people were killed and 277 injured in a highway pile-up that involved more than 200 vehicles.”

I had flirted with the idea of moving to Dubai for contract radiography work before the financial crash, but sense won out in the end and I moved back in with my parents… :-/
